Space Age Technology

The Wellness® Brief and Underwear are based on the same principles as NASA’s Maximum Absorbency Garments (MAGs), developed for astronauts who cannot remove their suits during long missions. Each astronaut receives three MAGs—one for launch, one for reentry, and one spare—to ensure comfort and hygiene in space.

Inspired by NASA's Innovation

NASA's MAGs use super-absorbent polymers capable of holding up to 60 times their volume. This breakthrough inspired the creation of InconTek® technology, now at the core of Wellness® products.

InconTek® Technology on Earth

Unlike ordinary briefs with a single core, Wellness® products feature a triple-layered core—just like NASA's MAGs. Moisture is drawn away from the skin and locked into a separate layer, leaving the surface dry to the touch.

Why It Matters

Keeping urine away from the skin helps prevent UTIs, irritation, and other incontinence-related problems— providing users with comfort, dignity, and long-lasting protection.

Our Mission: To provide a full line of incontinence solutions that offer skin-friendly dryness, dependable performance, and real value—so users can live freely, confidently, and comfortably.

FAQ

A: The Wellness Brief® and Underwear’s multilayer construction traps moisture inside the product’s core, transferring it quickly off the skin. For those managing incontinence, this preventive strategy promotes optimal skin health and comfort by lowering the risk of infections, skin irritation, and other moisture-related issues.

A: Absolutely, all of Wellness Briefs’ incontinence products use the cutting-edge technology that it employs. The enhanced absorbency and comfort technology found in NASA’s Maximum Absorbency Garments (MAGs) is included in every product, including adult pull ups, adult briefs, adult diapers, and diaper pads.

A: No. The underwear and The Wellness Brief® are made to be as thin and unobtrusive as possible, even with numerous layers. Significant absorbency is possible without the bulk that comes with conventional adult diapers because of the use of innovative materials. This ensures that users can enjoy the benefits of enhanced absorbency without sacrificing comfort or discretion.

A: Yes, astronauts wear specialized diapers known as Maximum Absorbency Garments (MAGs) during space missions. These astronaut diapers, developed by NASA, are designed to handle long-duration missions where astronauts cannot easily access traditional bathrooms due to the limitations of their spacesuits.

The Wellness Brief® and Underwear is based on the same principles as the Maximum Absorbency Garments (MAGs) developed by NASA.

Incontinence can be a challenging condition, affecting the dignity and quality of life of millions worldwide. Traditional solutions often fall short, leaving users uncomfortable and at risk of skin infections and other health issues. Inspired by NASA’s technology used in their Maximum Absorbency Garments (MAGs) for astronauts, Wellness Brief® introduces InconTek® technology in its Wellness Brief® and Underwear.

Inspired by NASA’s Maximum Absorbency Garment (MAG)

In creating the MAG, NASA developed a super absorbent polymer capable of absorbing up to 60 times its volume. Super absorbent material, like starch, is made from molecules banded together with millions of identical units.

The adult-sized diaper with extra absorption material is used because astronauts cannot remove their spacesuits during long operations. NASA’s solution was to develop an astronaut diaper or the Maximum Absorbency Garment (MAG) because astronauts cannot remove their spacesuits during long operations. Three MAGs are given during space shuttle missions: during launch, reentry, and a spare in case reentry needs to be re-attempted. This is done to ensure astronauts’ comfort and hygiene.

InconTek® Technology: Bringing Space Innovations to Earth

Unlike other briefs that have a single core absorption system, The Wellness Brief has a triple layered core just as NASA's MAG so that all of the moisture is retained away from the skin in a separate layer and what is actually against the skin feels dry. This is what we call our InconTek® technology.

Keeping urine away from the skin is the key to preventing urinary tract infections, severe irritation, and many other incontinence related problems.

Detailed Layered Structure of The Wellness Brief® and Underwear

Leveraging the principles of NASA’s super absorbent technology, The Wellness Brief® and Underwear have transformed everyday care for individuals suffering from incontinence.

Built on a triple-layered core system, mirroring the effectiveness of the MAG, the Wellness Brief® and Underwear consists of the following components of the layers:

Tricot Liner (Innermost Layer):
This soft, skin-friendly layer acts as a comfortable barrier, effectively wicking moisture away from the skin to keep it dry and protected.

Non-Woven (One-Way) Layer:
Specially designed to allow moisture to pass through in only one direction, this layer prevents moisture from returning to the skin, vital for maintaining skin health over extended periods.

Water Absorbent Layer: This layer uses super absorbent polymers that transform the liquid into gel, securely containing it and preventing any leaks.

Conform Absorbent Layer: It enhances the capacity and fluid distribution within the brief, ensuring a slim fit while boosting overall absorbency.

Plastic Outer Liner: Serving as the ultimate barrier against moisture, this layer ensures that both the wearer and their clothing remain dry. Its breathable properties help maintain comfort and reduce heat buildup.
